Eat Breakfast!

LudBreakfastBreakfast is the most important meal of the day!  After the 8-10 hours you’ve been asleep, your brain and other muscles need ‘energy’ to function.  Children especially should not go without breakfast! Their growing bodies and developing brains rely heavily on the regular intake of food.

Eating breakfast is important for everyone.  For adults, it is a good way to keep your weight under control, and for children it helps with concentration, attention, productivity, mood, behaviors, and the big picture-school performance!

Your body is like a machine and in order to function properly, it needs ‘fuel’, just like your car needs fuel to run.

Staying Healthy

Ever notice that when you are sick you just want to sleep? That’s because your body heals itself twice as fast when you are sleeping as when you are awake. To be in tip-top condition, your body needs at least 8 hours of sleep each night, and even more when you are sick!

Healthy Snack Guidelines

District 92 has updated the healthy snack guidelines. Click here for a complete snack list.

Drink up!

Your body is made up of 60% water. In order to function properly, every part of your body needs water. Kids should drink 50% of their body weight in ounces of water each day. For example, if you weigh 70 lbs., you should drink 35 oz. of water. To figure out the amount of water you need each day, record your weight here: ______________. Now divide that number by 2. The amount of water you should drink daily is __________oz. (remember that 8 oz.=1 cup).
